Through the Acorn app we’re able to support businesses that make our communities thrive. Everyday we learn more about our activities and how they enrich the wellbeing of children and families. Today, we talk to SeaGlass Carousel, about fun days out and birthday parties in The Battery.
1. Please tell us a little about yourself and your business
Name: The SeaGlass Carousel at The Battery
Speciality: Unique NYC attraction for all ages
When the business was started: SeaGlass Carousel opened August 2015
Where you are based: Manhattan, New York
2. What motivated you to set up fun and games in The Battery, by opening the carousel to kids?
Update, Battery Park is now referred to as "The Battery"!
SeaGlass Carousel was inspired by the original site of the New York Aquarium which was located in the park from 1896 to 1941. Our goal was to teach kids and adults about marine life and to provide a unique destination for young families living in the neighborhood and throughout the city. SeaGlass is the only one of its kind and is open to all ages.
3. Tell us about a favorite moment hosting kids on SeaGlass
While SeaGlass Carousel is great for all ages, hosting kids' birthday parties is one of our favorite things to do! We recently hosted a birthday party for Stroller in the City's (Brianne Manz) daughter, Gemma, which turned out amazingly. We seek to provide our birthday clients with not only the magic of the carousel, but with the care and thoughtfulness that goes into planning a special day. This includes the reserved party terraces with private seating and tables, goody bags, a dedicated Party Host, and exciting world-class entertainment as part of our party enhancements.
4. When was the conservancy created, and why?
The Battery Conservancy was founded/created in 1994 by Warrie Price. Her mission was to rebuild and revitalize this historical site that represents the gateway to New York City.
